All Star Golf Tour currently is awarding up to $2,000 in cash to 2012 members who demonstrate the highest level of skill and performance during the 2012 season. The top three ASGTour members in the 2012 Player of the Year award point standings receive guaranteed minimum cash bonuses as indicated below along with other, yet to be determined, special awards. Cash awarded may increase in the event a POY sponsor can be secured.
Awards will be distributed during the 2012 National Championship Vision Banquet, providing winners can be determined at that time. Otherwise, awards will be distributed after conclusion of the final event at the end of the season.
The award is based on points accumulated for the player's finishing position with a formula that takes into consideration the size of the field. The more players in the event means players receive a higher point awarding for their finishing position. The more events a player enters means a greater number of points can be accumulated. Additionally, players participating in two day events receive double point values.
Players are awarded points as follows:
Fields with 12 or fewer players
- 1st Place - 5 points
- All other money positions - 1 Point
Fields with 13-23 players
- 1st Place - 10 points
- 2nd Place - 5 points
- 3rd Place - 3 Points
- All other money positions - 2 Points
Fields with 24 or more players
- 1st Place - 15 Points
- 2nd Place - 10 Points
- 3rd Place - 5 Points
- All other money positions - 3 Points
Cash awards pay out to the top three players as follows:
- 1st - $1,000
- 2nd - $750
- 3rd - $250
